FAQ's
What is Myotherapy?
Myotherapy is a physical therapy, which focuses on treating musculoskeletal pain and associated pathologies through orthopaedic assessment, treatment and rehabilitation.

Myotherapy can incorporate soft tissue massage, trigger point therapy, mobilisation techniques, muscle energy techniques, dry needling, electrotherapy, stretching, breath work, exercise rehabilitation and lifestyle modification advice.
What is the difference between Myotherapy and Chiropractic, Osteopathy and Physiotherapy?
This is a very complex question, as there are so many variables in the way each practitioner treats and even the different theories and methodologies within each therapy. There are many similarities and overlaps, however, one main difference is that Myotherapists do not do any forcible manipulations, ‘cracking’, or adjustments of the spine.

Myotherapy is very safe! It is generally considered to be very ‘hands on’, meaning that you will receive direct treatment to your body, to help alleviate pain and dysfunction. Myotherapists can also provide exercises, stretches and strengthening programs.
Is Myotherapy right for me?
Due to the safe nature of most of our techniques, there are almost no clients we can’t see. In some instances, we may not use all our modalities if there are contraindications, however, there is almost always another option for treatment.
What should I wear to a Myotherapy appointment?
Ideally, comfortable loose clothing is optimal. Most clients come straight from work or gym, so there’s no problem if you can’t wear loose clothing. Please wear underwear, or shorts if you prefer and talk to your Myotherapist if you have any reservations about removing clothing for treatment. We always leave the room to allow you to remove any outer clothing. We provide towels for you to cover up with, only ever exposing the area we need for treatment.
How long is a Myotherapy appointment?
Initial appointments require 60mins, as we go into detailed history, assessment and treatment.
Follow up sessions require 60mins, or 30mins, depending on the complexity of your case and the number of regions requiring treatment.
After your Initial appointment you will receive a treatment plan, which outlines the appointment duration recommended and how many sessions will be anticipated to meet your desired outcome.
